The Jar
SupportThe Jar is a small app made by one person, so you'll get a reply from the person who made it. Bugs, ideas, confusion — all welcome.
Get in touch
Say what you were trying to do, what happened instead, and how to make it happen again if you can. A screenshot helps more than you'd think.
Replies usually within a couple of days. Beta testers can also use TestFlight → The Jar → Send Beta Feedback, which attaches your device details automatically.
Getting the app
It ships through TestFlight, Apple's beta app. Install TestFlight from the App Store, then open the invite link — you'll get one from whoever invited you, or from us.
Requires iOS 26 or later · Sign in with Apple · no email, no password.
Common questions
Install The Jar, sign in, then tap the link again — it opens the app on the join screen with the code filled in. If you only have the six-character code, open the app, tap + in the top corner, choose Join with a code, and type it in.
If the jar has more than one open invite, the app asks which name is yours so your history lands in the right place.
Whoever runs the jar has to add you by name first — that's what creates the invite your code claims. Ask them to open the jar, go to Jar settings → Add someone, and send you the invite again.
You have sixty seconds to tap Undo on the report screen — it disappears completely, as if it never happened. After that, the person it was about can dispute it, which voids it and leaves a note in history.
A violation waits 48 hours for the person it names to confirm or dispute it. If they say nothing, it confirms on its own and is labelled that way so everyone can see how it resolved. Silence isn't a defence — but disputing at any point before the deadline stops it.
Never. It keeps score. When you settle up, it shows you who owes whom and, if you've added a Venmo username, opens Venmo with the amount already filled in. It doesn't hold, send, or check on any payment — you mark the period settled yourself.
Open the jar → ⋯ → Jar settings → Leave jar. Anything outstanding is cleared, not collected; your past entries stay in everyone's history.
Settings → Delete account. Your profile and sign-in are removed; your entries in shared jars become “Former member” so other people's history stays intact. Jars you own pass to the longest-standing member, or are deleted if nobody else has an account. Details in the privacy policy.
Almost always a different Apple Account. Sign out from Settings and sign back in with the one you used before. Deleting and reinstalling the app doesn't sign you out — the session lives in the keychain — so a reinstall alone won't reset anything.
